How it works

A chip can only be read with a chip reader, and a finder rarely has one to hand. Anyone with a phone can read the tag.

  1. Someone finds your pet

    The finder sees the tag on the collar and scans the code with a phone camera.

  2. The profile opens

    Your pet's name and photo appear, with the details you chose to make visible.

  3. You get a call or a message

    With one tap the finder calls or messages you, or sends their location. No chip reader is needed.

Engraved by us, with our own laser

We buy the tags blank and engrave them ourselves, one by one, with our own laser. That is why we can also put your own text on it.

  • Your pet's name and a QR code that leads to the profile
  • Prefer your own text, such as a phone number? That is possible for € 3,99 extra
  • The laser engraves into the steel itself, so there is no sticker or ink that can come off

What is on the tag?

Your pet's name and a QR code, engraved by us in-house with our laser. You choose from three models: round (30 mm), dog tag (24 x 40 mm) or heart (22 x 20 mm). Want a different text on the round tag or the dog tag, such as a phone number or two names? That is possible for € 4,99 extra, up to thirty characters. The heart is too small for that: it only gets the name.

What does a finder see when scanning the code?

Your pet's profile on ChipReaders, with the details you have chosen to make visible.

Does my pet need to be registered with ChipReaders?

Yes. The code leads to your pet's profile, so that has to exist first. Registering takes a few minutes.

What if I move or get a new number?

Then you update it in your account. The code on the tag stays the same and shows the new details right away.

When will the tag be delivered?

The tags arrive with us in early October. From Monday 5 October we start engraving, so the first tags may reach you that same week. That is our expectation and not yet a promise: if our delivery is delayed, this moves with it. You can cancel your reservation until shipping.

What does shipping cost?
